After he sees his mom freaking out because he is constantly crying when he is a baby. Is this what set the plan in motion? I notice after he is watching the tape of him as a baby then the next scene is the new baby crying. He even says to the dad "she's crying.
Any opinions on this please post.
I agree with you and believe you're right. That video of himself added more trauma when he already had a mom two steps away from insanity messing up his mind. I think he believed she was "weak" and didn't try harder to "save herself" from going crazy instead of worrying over him, so she had to go away for being a "bad mother" and not fulfilling her duty of loving him like he wanted. That's when his evil genius side showed up.
shareI don't agree....I believe he's been watching that tape for years and knows the truth about his life as a baby - the way he takes the tape out automatically without trying each one, etc. I think it fueled his own insanity.

I don't think he was enacting an evil plan. To anyone finding that kind of tape, it would be very damaging, especially as he always felt insecure in his parents love. I think he was warning Lily about his parents, and that she started crying because of the anxiety and rage of her mother.
shareIf you read about sociopaths there seems to be a tie between colic and children becoming sociopaths later in life. Some suspect it has to do with the mother not being able to properly bond with the child with it screaming all the time. Then again I've read it has to do with wiring in the brain being off which suggests they were just born like that... to me it seems like a "chicken or the egg question". Was Joshua's colic a sign he would inevitably be a sociopath or did his colic and mother's postpartum depression create a monster? Eithere way good film.
