... since his song would tally up with whatever the father and mother had been saying about Joshua's plans to destroy the family AND reveals his motivation to be with the uncle.
The uncle doesn't strike me as the sociopathic type. First stop, police station.
He should've done something with the rat as well. Anyways, I just watched this movie for the first time in about 2 years and I still feel sorry for Joshua. Yes, he did terrible things but he was mentally ill and didn't feel loved by his parents. His uncle was the only one he felt truly loved him. I hope the uncle would've caught on to that and wouldn't turn him in because he needed help and love, not imprisonment.
It's not like Joshua would have been thrown in jail if the uncle went to the authorities. He probably would have been sent to a facility for kids with mental problems, and that little nut should have been sent away. A boy that could come up with a detailed plan like that just to get his way needed a lot more than love. He probably would always try to manipulate situations where he felt he wasn't getting the attention that he felt he deserved.
Obviously he was mentally screwed up when it came to life in general, and not just with his parents. He was offering a bum money to throw rocks at him for Christ's sake. Crazy with a capital Z.
You hope the uncle wouldn't turn him in??? The little bastard killed people! I'm sure if he killed someone you loved you'd be singing a different tune. That nut case needs to be locked up in a straight jacket!
