Didn't it seem like newborn Lily was "perfect" until Joshua (as evidenced by the videotape at the end) kept making her cry? But how did he keep making her cry ALL the time, not just at night? Every shot was how the mom was going bonkers by the CONSTANTLY crying infant, day, night, even when Joshua wasn't around?

I’m watching this now. The mother is pumping her milk so maybe he put something in the milk? Just a thought.
Stress will make a baby cry a lot so if the parents are stressed the baby feels it.
Update- I finished the movie and at one point the father smells the formula powder and dumps it in the sink. I got the impression the baby was being poisoned.
I couldn’t figure out what was going on in that scene. A few of the characters kept talking about smelling something. It was odd.
shareJust finished watching this again after 4yrs. I suspect Josh was poisoning the baby and the mother. He did the same to food at school to the rodents which is why they all died. People talk about a bad smell in the house and around others. I suspect the poison was giving people gas creating the bad smells. Gassy babies cry a lot!
The father at one point smells and dumps out the powder formula which smelled bad due to the formula.
At the end we see mover discovering troubling drawings and also another dead rodent
