My interpretation of the film.

I saw it as a dichotomy between a society made of slaves and those people who are against this society and its ways of alienate people. I say slaves cause everyone in this town is happy, or is it better to say content as it says in the description? They are all content about things we all seek in life, houses, jobs, that sort of stuff.

But in this city everyone have forgotten about the little things in life, the way a meal taste, the flavour of chocolate, etc. Mainly because theyve become vain. Andreas tries to challenge this and its thrown away like rubbish, cause he doesnt work in this type of society. Please, share your opinion with me and correct me if I am brong.

I thought the same thing. To live in society you have to fit the mold, even if it means missing out on the little pleasures of life and being almost like a robot. If this makes you feel empty, you either become eternally unadapted (bit still want to fit in somehow) like the guy who lived in the appartment with the hole, or you take action and are somewhat forced to exile, like Andreas. Only in our society, acting out is seen as being insane and therefore the "exile" could be as simple as being treated like a mental patient and slowly coerced into adjusting again. I hope this makes sense, english is not my first language.

After finishing the movie, I felt like I didn't like all that much, but then I started thinking about its meaning and now I think it's a great metaphor. And it's scary how close it is to reality these days.

And on some small level, I think you owe me something for deceiving me so exquisitely.
