THE EXPLODING SKY

Really loved the efect given to the clouds went the anti-matter explodes above the sky, does anybody noted how it resembled those religious paintings of ascensions/open heavens based in Michaelangelo´s Sistine Chapel?

reply

Yes you are right it was like something Godly or divine. Anyway it was cool.

Being from a catholic background and having lived all my life in the beautiful and historical city of Tavira, Portugal, I can tell you it´s a image from my childhood the paintings in my city churchs ( by the way, Tavira has more than 20 churchs for a area of about 3 km2

One of the few cool things about this movie.

Shame it didn't make any sense though. The Antimatter would all have annihilated in a fraction of a second, converting to various forms of energy that would have dispersed extremely quickly (and destructively). There certainly wouldn't have been some strange glowing blob hanging in the air for a minute - what's it made of? It's impossible. Just another disappointing flaw in the film.

Strange...even though I knew the "cloud" shouldn't have appeared in that manner, I thought it had a wondrous appearance and appreciated it all the more for that. The way it appeared made it seem all the more ominous

Also, I don't think the common man would necessarily know what antimatter really does when reacting with matter. (i.e. the common man has a tendency to think that every vehicular accident always ends up in a ball of flame.)

If the science of the antimatter explosion bothered you, you should try reading the book sometime. The science there is horrible... there's virtually nothing scientific in the whole book that isn't twisted or very badly misunderstood.

reply

For me it resembled the big bang, being that the anti-matter/god particle/higgs boson is what supposedly created everything. It was like watching a very miniature version of the big bang. That was magical to me :)

It's just not the same without Grissom, Sarah and Warrick.....especially Warrick - yum!

Seems only sporting of him, considering how ignorant he also is about religious matters.
