Langdon and Latin

Is Langdon's latin bad? During they examine Galileo's document. Vittoria suggest her to help in Latin and he accepts. I thought he is magnificent in Latin. Since he's an expert on symbols he should also be expert on some important ancien languages especially on Latin and Ancient Greek. How was that in book?

reply

I don't remember how it was addressed in the book; but if you were Langdon wouldn't you want to get a little closer to Vittoria?

reply

Hmmm probably. So what you want to say is Langdon was testing her. Not because of his lack of Latin knowledge.

reply

Then Langdon must be a bisexual because he seemed to express the same desire the second time he visited the archives, but this time with the " smoker " guy.

You know what you are? You're the son of a thousand fathers. All bastards like you.

reply

Ummm... why would someone who know symbols need to know Latin?
Symbology doesn't exist, Brown invented it.

reply

He also know history very well. He is professor in US and he has a catholic background. He should know Latin.

reply

I didn't get this either, in both movies. As a symbologist, he must be constantly doing archaic research, and yet he doesn't seem to be able to speak or read French, Italian or Latin. I thought this was odd.

reply

He was flirting. You could see him smile as she crossed over to sit next to him.

reply

But he needed help the second time as well, from the guard.

I'm the grim reaper, lardass, and you're my next customer.

reply

Wasn't that one for Italian? Also as I know for PhD in Harvard you should write your essay in Latin. So how can someone be a professor in Harvard without the knowledge of Latin?

reply

Yes, the other guy helped him with translating Italian, not Latin.

reply

not sure the scene you're referring to. I only saw this once in the theater, but if my memory serves, in the book Vittoria helps him with Italian while searching for Diagramma (sp?), not Latin

What's Spanish for, "I know you speak English"?
