I've seen so many people getting shot with bullets in PG-13 movies that I was taken by surprise as to see blood actually spurting out when someone gets shot in this film. It's really disturbing. The scene in the church where one of the popes gets burned is like borderline Saw territory. The bit with the eye in the beginning is really nasty as well. Overall, I think the film benefits from having more blood and violent images because it gives the film a much more mature viewing than most PG-13 action flicks.
Stop shoving words into my mouth. You obviously know what I mean. If you want me to spoon feed you, then I was saying that having blood adds to the realism rather than seeing no blood come out when someone gets shot.
"having too much blood like some cheesy 70's horror movie."
it doesn't make it look cheesy in the slightest, infact it does make it look more real. No its doesnt make the viewing better but atleast grounds it in a more realistic frame.
Movies rarely give us a realistic depiction of violence upon the human body. Either it's virtually sterile (nothing but clean bullet wounds, if that, for example), or it's over the top (geysers of blood, bright red stuff that looks like paint, etc).
A&D was gory, but if memory serves, the Da Vinci Code seemed a lot more violent and bloody to me (and I've seen both cuts of that awful film).
I'm not sure what in A&D you found particularly realistic. My main concern though was people who thought that if only you added a little more blood splatter to A&D it would have been a better movie.
I haven't seen any "extended cut" of A&D, however, only the standard DVD edition and the included deleted scenes.

I disagree, in a way. It's the way the violence is presented that makes it mature.
You have movies like Kill Bill, where gallons of blood fly everywhere, making the violence more cartoony and over-the-top than disturbing.
Then there is Angels and Demons, where the blood is more grisly and realistic.
I was way more disturbed watching A&D than KB. But Since most people will say Kill Bill is the better movie, I guess mature isn't always better. (I personally disagree with most people on which film is better: I prefer A&D.

I saw the 12A cut here in the UK. In my opinion there was too much violence for it to be given that rating and should've been a 15. Apparently the BluRay release is a 15 but is an extended cut. Sorry, but I don't think most 12 year olds should be seeing people graphically being burnt alive and rats eating people.
