did anyone else hate how so many characters were killed for pretty much nothing and nobody seemed to care? Characters like Richter (Stellan Skarsgard), Olivetti (Pierfrancesco Favino) and about 12 other cops all get brutally killed for pretty much no good reason and nobody cares or even mentions them afterwords. It rubbed me the wrong way. It was hard for me to enjoy the rest of the movie because of this

It bugs me too , but I accept the movie as it is . I think the reason that nobody cares or even mentions them afterwards is because of limited run time : I notice that the movie begins with the end of the old pope , and it ends with the beginning of the new pope , making a complete cycle .
