Angels + Demons: First book, Second movie.

Can someone please help me here? I haven't read the books yet but I've seen the movies. Should I read Angels & Demons first or should I start with The Da Vinci Code?
I know in the movie The Da Vinci Code, Robert Langdon was introduced for the first time. Is it different in the first and second book?
Please tell me which one I should start with before they make the third movie (The Lost Symbol). I really want to read the books but since they made the movies out of order, I find myself wondering if I should read the books out of order.

Please help me make a decision.

I may be able to be of assistance poohlover.

The books are not really sequential and it doesn't really matter what order you read them in, though the events in A&D clearly happen before the DVC.

You might remember that in the movie A&D some dialogue occurs to reverse that situation, presumably so as not to confuse the movie audience.

I ended up reading all Dan Brown's books out of order (DVC first) and didn't find it a problem at all.

Hope this helps.

I concur. I haven't read DVC yet, but I do remember reading somewhere that A&D is supposed to take place before DVC although that is reversed in the movie.

I discovered Dan Brown through the Da Vinci Code book and then continued to read all that he has written. I think that by reading DVC first you get accustomed to the personality of Robert Langdon and then A&D falls more into place. It seems to me that A&D expects you to understand what a historical genius Robert really is.
