I have a question about the two year thing?

I'm watching the movie for the first time right now and I'm just at the part where his girlfriend says they've been going for two years [right before he tells her that he doesn't like being a virgin]

How is that possible when they started going out Junior year and he's only a Senior now?
Can someone explain that please, I'm confused lol

Start at the beginning of junior year - or the summer before it, and it's nearly 2 years. rounding happens.
