Season 2 episode 1, did they let the cleaner die?

This whole post is a big spoiler warning, just want to let you know now, so you can stop reading if you haven't seen the episode yet!

In the locker room, when Abby and Connor escorted the cleaner and he got attacked, we saw them go over to him and just stood there and looked. He had a small gash on the side of his throat and blood was coming out.

I'm no medic, but I know that if someone bleeds from their throat from a small wound, you should apply pressure and stay with the person.

Abby and Connor just walked past him, not even giving him a second glance and when the creature was sedated, the scene cut and his legs were still visible on the left side of the screen... then we never see him again.

Do they really have that much disregard for the lives of people not credited as main cast that they would just watch a man die without even attempting to help him? Or was there another reason for letting him bleed out and die?
