Why didn't Clive Barker direct this movie?( some spoilers, obviously)

Man, how much I've wanted to watch this movie until now but I've got disappointed from the very beginning by the name of the director. It doesn't mean the movie was bad and I didn't enjoy it. It's just that it could have been much better if Clive Barker directed this movie. Further more, I think they gave it to a wrong director because it didn't start as a horror movie like horror movies. Also when Leon was posing to kill mahogany, it was way overdramatic like action move. What's with Japanese style ending music too? Anyway not many things work together. The movie was enjoyable solely because of the script from Clive Barker.
