A Game of Thrones television drama (the character of Tyrion played by Peter Dinklage - his character develops a sharp tongue and wicked wit as a way to deal with suffering from dwarfism in a world where babies who have dwarfism are often executed or at least ridiculed their entire lives) to a certain extent. Spider-Man I guess could make the cut also. I guess Forrest Gump, The King's Speech could be mentioned in a way. I have a feeling none of these are quite what you're looking for however.

OH! "The Man From Earth" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/ ) is a great example, though the main character's social awkwardness is more because he's slightly immortal and doesn't know how to tell his friends this before he leaves, less because he's maladjusted.
