this is the sentence in that scene.
"....And so he solaced himself with pacing up and down the meadow and writing and carving on the bark of the trees and on the fine sand a multitude of verses,all in harmony with his sadness, in sum and praise of Dulcinea..but whar distressed him greatly was not having another hermit there to confess him ..."

Which was so cool because it is also about a deluded but honorable, sensitive man, sort of other-worldly, who has a fantasy-ideal of the woman he falls in love with (Dulcinea), and wants to do all kinds of things to honor and protect her.
