I'm currently watching this as I type. One thing that makes no sense is that these guys are all majorly inbred and stuff but they can shrug off being hit by a car and seemingly snapping their neck on a rock. I half expected the one who was shot to come flying back out of the river. Since when does incest give Wolverine like regeneration powers??
Anyways, the film isn't totally awful but it's not good. I enjoyed Wrong Turn 1 more.
There more like The Punisher than wolverine, uber High pain tolerance rather then Nigh-Invulnerability.

I completely agree!! Incest causes all sorts of genetic defects, inevitably WEAKENING the body- not strengthening it! If we were to make a reference to dogs, we can see this is the case as their are new laws preventing the excessive inbreeding of dogs because they end up so weak (and live for much shorter time).
Weirdly, I asked my mate this exact same question!
Don't forget the chemical waste they've been ingesting for years. That's what turned them into mutants (in addition to the inbreeding) and gave them increased strength and regenerative powers.

Remember in the first movie they led off with a montage of newspaper clippings that claimed that inbred mountain men all had superhuman strength and stuff. Which, like the other poster said, seems to be in opposition to real science where inbreeding generally produces a weaker offspring.
I guess the superstrong inbred is a Hollywood movie myth like drawing a chalk outline around a dead body, bullets sparking when they ricochet, or people thinking a pretty girl is ugly just because she's wearing glasses.
