I would love to put some of my favourite comic book heroes in this situation, hunted by wild beast-like inbred men in a forrest.

Wolverine
Spiderman
Daredevil

All for the obvious reasons that they will kick ass!

Good choices, though most of the super-heroes and characters you have chosen will make short work of the inbred monsters.
