One could argue that everything Bacon does after his house gets assaulted by the gang is just the revenge fantasy of a dying man.
The movie gets MUCH less realistic from that point forward... almost taking on the texture of a dream.
That's actually a good point! Just watched DS for the first time since it first came out (I saw it at the cinema!)and although I remembered very little about it, I did remember that the film went from Mr Bacon being a grief-stricken loser who just made everything worse, whatever he did, to becoming a super-slick killer in the climactic action sequence... I mean, just compare the car park scene to the end scene...

No. It really wasn't. The first half was a bit far-fetched, but mostly plausible.
The second half was NUTS.
