Why these films keep being made

As horrible as these film are, they are profitable for a few reasons:

1. The cast is made up of low paid unknowns with a few D-list celebrities thrown in for pseudo credibility.

2. The script is hastily thrown together with little real thought or consideration.

3. The production value is clearly quite low. Things like special effects, costumes, and sets are lousy at best.

In short, they make the film for a fraction of what most films go for, ensuring that with a single $15-20 million dollar opening, they are profitable. Investors love these kinds of situations - a guaranteed return within a very short period of time.

As long as these movies can be cranked out at a low cost and enough people fill the seats on opening weekend, they will continue to be made, regardless of how God awful they really are.

It's so God awful it's kind of funny.
Like watching a car crash.

Is this the signature or still part of the post?

4. Because there are too many simple-minded idiots in the world who will pay to watch a movie like this and actually find it funny

I couldn't agree more. I'm so glad that at least someone else out there shares my opinion. Just so you know I live with two people who help these movies make a profit, my 19 yr old daughter and 17 yr old son. They will see these movies either at the theatre or they buy it on DVD. I try and warn them but you think they listen? My daughter bought Benchwarmers and talked me into sitting down and watching it with her. She thinks it's one of the greatest and funniest movies ever, I on the other hand didn't laugh or smile from start to finish and that wasn't even a spoof of movies. I finally figured out the movie studios thinking. They figure as long as they have a 10 million or more opening weekend take then they have made their money, made a profit and who cares what it does the rest of the way. Just as long as the opening weekend is big that's all they care about. We saw the preview of The Incredible Hulk earlier on TV and I also saw the preview for it before the showing of The Strangers and it looks about as lamb as a movie can be. Guess what? she plans to go see that to even though it looks like it will suck ass.

Don't be talking if you actually saw the Strangers in theater.

I agree, I hope people stop supporting these stupid movies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVHWJ9jPYw8

D-list actors, wow that is brutal son. Maybe you meant D-cup actresses? lol That seems to be the norm with these films these days. Trying to win on sex, and not good acting or writing.

it only takes like 20 dollars to make one of these "movies". they can make as many as they want because selling a handful of tickets makes the movie profitable.

You are SO right. These films are SO incredibly cheap in every way: the bad writing, the bad acting, extremely poor and amateur special effects...it's like they were produced in a few days at best. And people FLOCK to see this garbage, it's why it keeps getting made. There will be LOTS more of these...so brace yourselves!!
