Come on, you all know that these movies are supposed to be stupid!

I really don't get why everyone keeps complaining about this movie.....

Scary Movie was dumb. And all of its follow-ups were dumb. BUT: They are supposed to be!! The whole concept of these movies is spoofing popular blockbusters in the cheapest way possible. And you all know that! If you find these movies offending, you clearly didn't get it.

I personally think that these movies are fun to watch. Most of the jokes are flat and dumb but that's some kind of trademark of the series I guess.

However, sometimes we all need some senseless entertainment and the way they combine all the different sotrylines is - without a doubt - very very creative.

That may be the case. Yet this stuff is still stupid and just plain unfunny. This doesn't even succeed at trying to be dumb. I'm not particularly a massive die-hard fan of spoof films, but if you wanna see a good spoof film, watch Hot Fuzz.

I got the feeling this wasn't going to be funny when the audience was clearly expected to laugh at the repeated use of the word "bitch" with different inflections.

For middle schoolers currently taking sex ed, yeah, this is a funny movie. When I found myself in such a position, I considered this my favorite movie of all time. Now, it's really nothing but a bunch of profanity and sex jokes for the sake of it, that we're expected to laugh at.

I rather liked Baines. We shared the same bootmaker.

I've been seeing this a lot lately: people posting saying how we shouldn't hate the movie because it's "just a mindless action film" (Transformers 2), or it's "just a mindless comedy (Epic Movie)." Well, maybe some of us are mature enough to appreciate films that have a cohesive plot, interesting characters, clever dialogue, and an overall worthy screenplay. I've seen entertaining and mature action films done right (The Rock-- see Michael Bay has done it before but chooses not to do it again, The Dark Knight, The Crow, T2, Lethal Weapon 2) and I've seen funny/witty comedies/parodies done right (Ghostbusters, Animal House, Airplane, Spaceballs, Shaun of the Dead). There's a reason why these movies are rated higher than garbage like this. Not every film has to be like the Godfather, but they should at least try to be more than 1-dimensional.

Interesting argument. So, by your standards, I film a turd in a bowl and to say to everyone 'look, it's a turd in a bowl', it suddenly becomes a piece of art?

haha well duchamp took an old urinal and put it in an art museum... I mean god I would never pay to see these movies but I get the appeal
