Best Original Song
Why didn't the Academy nominate "Lazy Pirate Day" for Best Original Song?
shareI've always wondered this.
Basically, the Academy is a bunch of rich, Republican warmongerers. Epic Movie is a film that defies traditional cinema, invoking strong dada-istic themes including anti-war.
This song is a clear satire of the Guantanamo Bay scandal. In it, they have an American cast singing "We are the pirates, WHAT, of the Caribbean!" Clearly a statement on the brutal nature and injustice practiced on the edge of Cuba in the Caribbean.
To drive the point home even further, they even mispronounce "Caribbean", making fun of George W Bush's problem with pronouncing things properly. In the unrated version, there's closeups of various corporate sponsors, implying that they're the ones with the most interests in foreign wars. ON top of that, they even parody a hit group like they're saying "Over sexual 'music' groups influenced American opinion of the War on Terror, mainly by distracting Americans from the real issues at hand."
I don't know why people don't see how these films are some of the best satire of our time. I guess they're just content watching garbage like Two and a Half men and Transformers where they don't have to think.
I am the prophet of the IMDb Mod Gods. They act when I call.
Nice trolling
