The Alex vs. Alex WOWP special looks quite bad...

I loved the show but this just looks and sounds like a Selena Gomez glory fest who gets to be both hero and villain. She's also the only main character than can do magic seeing that Justin is not in the hour special. That casts serious doubt on how substantial everyone else's role is. The best part of the show was in the first two seasons when it dealt with the siblings and the family, in particular Justin and Alex. For majority of the show, Justin was practically a co-lead on the show. This sounds like it will be again completely focused on Alex like the last season, which is commonly considered the worst season of the show.

The show always focused mainly on Alex. Justin and Max had their share of spotlight episodes, but Selena Gomez was the star of the show so Alex featured prominently.

The newest promo for the special portrays it as very dark and serious, but I expect it to be more comedic in the long run. Disney loves to jumble a bunch of scenes out of sequence and out of context to heighten tension, but they don't want to make it too gloomy. After all, the channel is Sitcom Central.

I read awhile back that Selena is an executive producer of the special, so it's also her debut behind the scenes.

I loved the final season, but I think third season was strongest of all four; it had a little more energy than the final season. The characters were maturing in season 3. Having Harper move in with the Russos was a great idea; for one thing we no longer had to put up with her freaking out every other episode because of the magical weirdness. She finally had to grow up and get used to it.

Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.

SEASON 3 FTW! Lol

I agree, to me Season 3 was the height of the show, and Season 4 was eh. I did kind of like how the storylines continued through several episodes, but then again several of the storylines were silly and not executed well (asteroid, Beast Tamer, Mason)...
