If the Russo's ever had the chance to go to Hogwarts and be sorted, which Houses do you think would best suit them? To be honest I'm not quite sure about Max. He's a little bit complicated, and occasionally he had shown some traits connected to all four houses, but it's hard to tell. Now Justin I think definitely would have been sorted into Ravenclaw, and I seriously can't see Alex being in any place but Slytherin! lol
I am not too familiar with Harry Potter but if the bad wizards mostly came from Slytherin then Alex, Justin and Max would all be sorted into Slytherin because they all committed murder at least once.

Well, actually you find out toward the end of the series that Slytherin really just has a nasty stereotype against it, and that there had been plenty of instances where good wizards/witches had come from Slytherin. It wasn't even suppose to be a "bad" house anyway. Over the years at Hogwarts, it just sort of became the "bad wizard house" reputation. Especially since Voldemort and Grindelwald (Grindelwald was an evil wizard from the World War 2 era) both came from Slytherin. True, more "bad" wizards/witches came from Slytherin compared to the other houses, but basically toward the end Harry and friends realize that idea wasn't 100% true 100% of the time. And that deep down it's not so bad.
Anyway, in case you were curious the four houses of Hogwarts are, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. And here are the traits required for being in one of the houses. (there are many different trait's for each house, but these are considered to be the "main" ones)
-Gryffindor: bravery, courage, chivalry, valiant... -Hufflepuff: hard-working, loyal, dedicated, patience... ("unafraid of toil" is also one of Hufflepuff's many "motto's") -Ravenclaw: intelligent, wisdom, wit, creativity... -Slytherin: ambitious, determined, cunning, resourcefulness... (cunning might seem like a "bad" trait, but it's not always done in total malicious intent)
Anyway, I know this is the WOWP and not the HP boards, but I thought I would write all this down, since I'm sure other people besides magolding are unfamiliar with the world of Harry Potter and I thought it would only be fair to write down the traits in case other people want to play along. :)
Hufflepuffs are also great finders... bonus to anyone getting the reference.
As to the kids... Justin would be Ravenclaw. Max would be Hufflepuff. And Alex would be like Harry was, the sorting hat would likely debate between putting her in Slytherin or Gryffindor. Alex does seem to have some of Slytherin's traits (though not really ambitious), but when it comes down to it, when things get serious she shows all the main traits of a Gryffindor.
"Someone ever tries to kill you... you try to kill 'em right back."
I think Justin might have been in Gyrffindor as well. He is like Hermione both really smart, but also have the brave factor that would want to protect those they care about.

THIS.^ So much this.^
SPOILER WARNING!
People are always saying how Alex did not deserve to become the family Wizard, because of her being lazy, often times selfish, and messing up where ever she goes. But what people seem to forget is that when ever things get serious Alex always comes through in the end. Also, she does kind and/or good things without expecting any acknowledgement or reward. Justin on the other hand was always trying to prove that he was the best wizard simply for the sake of being acknowledged as the best wizard. Justin's motives throughout the course of the show was extremely selfish. Justin's whole personality is basically: "I am the best wizard in the universe, and I will show all of you! Nobody is better than me!"
Not only that but both Justin and Max were shown to be willing to let people close to them die if it meant keeping the magic world a secret or if it meant winning the wizard competition. Alex has been shown to put the lives of other people before anything else several times. Even going so far as to be willing to expose magic and/or lose the wizard competition if it meant saving the people she cares about.
Justin is also never happy for Alex. Whenever Alex accomplishes something Justin is always putting her down and being mean and sarcastic towards her. Whenever Justin accomplishes something Alex is always supportive of him. Plus if it wasn't for Alex then Justin never would have gotten back into the running for the wizard competition. Justin never even really cared about that class he was teaching. He was only using them to get back into the wizard competition. Alex cared more about the people in that class than Justin ever did. At the end of the series, Justin coming clean and admitting to everyone that Alex actually won the wizard competition was the only good and non-selfish thing Justin had done in a very very long time.
People are quick to point out Alex's bad behaviour, but Justin is the worst in my honest opinion. He pretends to be a "goody-goody" when under the surface he is easily the most selfish and mean character in the entire show.
As for Max, well he let loose an entire army of monsters that went on a rampage and wiped out all of the monster hunters. Max is responsible for the deaths of countless wizards because of that, and yet he gets away with not so much as a slap on the wrist. In my honest opinion Max should have been completely and permanently stripped from all of his powers right there.
Alex may be lazy, undisciplined, selfish at times, and mess up a lot, but her heart is in the right place and she always comes through when it counts. She has also saved the entire world more than once. The same can't be said for either Justin or Max. Alex did deserve to become the family wizard. And I am glad she ended up becoming the Russo family wizard.

Alex, Justin, and Max deserve to go to wizard jail. Alex, Justin, and Max have all murdered people. Alex does not have a good heart any more than Justin or Max does, because she murdered people just like Justin and Max did.
People who have good hearts don't kill people unnecessarily. If people with good hearts do have to kill people they regret it and wish they could have avoided killing them - like if,, for example, they had magical wizard powers and would never, ever be in a situation where their only choice would be to kill someone.
Alex, Max, and Justin would all go to Wizard Prison if there was any slightest degree of justice in the Wizard World.
From what I have seen of the Wizard World they have nothing to fear.
Yes, Alex did save the world once. So Alex is not evil enough to just let he world be destroyed. Are you, or anyone you know, evil enough to just let the world be destroyed?
According to current legal views, long (millennia) overdue, nobody who is under eighteen when committing a crime should be executed for that crime. So Alex should be imprisoned for her murders instead of executed. And since she saved the world, maybe she should be given a somewhat shorter sentence for her otherwise good character and behavior.

Wdb. I applaud you. Alex is the better person. You said how I felt completely.
As far as houses. For a moment the hat would consider slytherin for each of them. Then hufflepuff for max, the hat considered slytherin because his disregard for the rules . Ravenclaw for Justin- the hat considered slytherin for his wanting to prove himself , and Gryffindor for Alex-the hat considered slytherin because she is sly and cunning.
Justin is a toss-up between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. Alex would be sorted into Slytherin before the hat even touched her head, and she would make that house her own. I think Max would also be put in Slytherin, but the hat would take a little time before making a decision.

I agree with your prediction for Justin and Alex's placements in the houses. But why would Max be placed in Slytherin? He isn't shown to be ambitious, cunning or resourceful. Probably a goofy, good-natured kid without worrying too much about the consequences of his choices. Of course the traits are not strictly followed even in Harry potter books itself (Ron was in Gryffindor!), but just discussing the ideal cases here.
Crabbe and Goyle didn't strike me as ambitious, cunning, or resourceful, and they were in Slytherin. Another trait of the Slytherin is a certain disregard for the rules, and Max has even less regard for the rules than Alex does.

I hope that the sorting hat has a function to send kids who have committed crimes straight to Azbekan prison.
Of course Alex and Justin committed all their crimes after they were older than kids who go to Hogwarts for the first time and are sorted.
