I just saw the trailer - actually I heard the trailer first and thought that Eddie Griffin was in a new movie, until I heard the name Don Cheadle. I am sorry, but they made him sound like Eddie and even look like a character Eddie had played in another movie. I just thought it was odd- I actually wonder if Mr Griffin was up for that role.

I thought the exact same thing. I just heard the commercial in the background and thought i heard Eddie Griffin. I looked up and saw some dude that didnt look like Griffin, then they said Don Cheadle. I cant even imagine that voice coming out of Cheadles mouth.

I must say that I disagree with you. Yes Griffin is talented but he is not in the same class as Don Cheadle. Being an actor is tough. Being a black actor is tougher. Therefore you have to take every opportunity to perform to the best of your ability when you have the chance. Look at the movies that each of these actors played in and I guarantee you that Don has out acted Eddie in every one of them. I love Eddie but comparing him to Don....there's no comparison.
shareWhile I think very highly of Don Cheadle's work, and did not make the same mistake when I first saw the trailer for this film, I understand the thought behind it. For those who may not be able to make the leap as it pertains to Eddie Griffen's ability consider some of the roles Jaime Fox played before he got a serious shot at a major role. The Wanda character from In Living Color might have been the worst one on a show full of bad characters.

Correct Eddie is not the same caliber actor as Don Cheadle, but I think he even knows that. But, I thought Don Cheadle sounded more like Tim Meadows from The Ladies Man.

Eddie Griffen, Don Cheadle and Cedric the entertainer are all from Missouri, USA.
To a certain degree they would have the same country drawl to their voice.
But did I think I heard Griffen when I heard the commercial, no, because Cheadle sounded like Mouse from Devil in a Blue dress. Nothing like Griffen.
