A borzoi, or a Russian wolfhound.

actually they are afghan hounds.

I think he was mistaken in the interview. Though the shape of the two breeds are similar, the dogs in the movie did not have the long Afghan hair. They were Borzoi.

You're correct. They are Borzoi. The only thing they have in common with Afghan Hounds is that they both are "sighthounds."

shareYes, they looked like Borzois to me too. I had a Borzoi briefly but couldn't keep her because she had the unfortunate habit of attacking any other dog she came in contact with, including innocent little poodles.
