I absolutely LOVED her in this role. She KILLED it...her performance was worthy of an Oscar if you ask me.

She broke my heart in Hustle and Flow.
What a great talent.
She was extremely obnoxious in this movie. I'm sorry but I don't see how everyone liked her in this movie, or what is so spectacular about this movie, maybe weak casting or bad writing.
shareabajasds; If you thought she was obnoxious then think about it, she was acting her butt off. Denzel Washington who most people love was hated sooo bad in Training Day, great acting can make you dislike someone you love.

Not really, I mean she's not one of my favorite actresses. I saw her in a number of movies, and I'm not saying she is a bad actresses, but I just thought she was a bit obnoxious.

She was decent in "Baby Boy". That was the first movie I seen her in, but I saw her in "I Can Do Bad All By Myself", and I thought, could this woman do other kind of acting? She seems to be typecast.

I really liked Vernell and thought she was the most sympathetic character in the movie. At least she was the one I enjoyed seeing the whole movie.
I like how you could tell she grew up between the 1960s and 1980s. Too bad the filmmakers had to make her up. I couldn't find any real person in Petey Greene's life to match her.
