I actually met someone, hiding underneath a car, who had traveled from Ecuador to San Diego, CA ... time spent traveling?? 6 months Spent the day with him and fed him, he was only 21, the saddest story and situation that I will experience first-hand
Actually it takes about 30 minutes to get from Juarez to El Paso. Tuscon is a 5 or so hour drive from El Paso. You can get on a bus in Tucson in the morning and be in LA by late that afternoon.
It would be plausible for him to cross on Tuesday morning and be in LA the next morning, if he didn't run into all the problems along the way.
If you want to look at this movie for factual errors, you'll find a lot of thm. IMHO, the timing wasn't one of them. It was plausible for him to be in all of those cities and take all that time to get to LA.
BTW, I live in El Paso, travel to Juarez, have a business I visit near Tucson, and go to LA on business as well. (I fly Southwest and get there in a couple of hours).
I've driven to L.A. from Houston several times. It just seemed like a hell of a long trip. I guess if he's starting at the halfway point of my journey (El Paso/Juarez) it wouldn't be that far.
I'm just basing this on my road tripping experience but I have to take out the whole Texas factor since he was pratically in New Mexico upon crossing into El Paso! Y'all are WAY out in West Texas....
I liked the movie, but I wondered about some of the events as well. For instance, how likely is it for a 9 yr. old to escape from the impounded car, not be noticed, and somehow make it to the El Paso Greyhound station? If anyone is familiar with the area, can you let me know how far of a trip that would be?
