I fail to see why this movie is antiamerican or the sort. The movie is just portraying the life of a family who is separated. Nowadays everything is made to have a political content, even if it's not the author's intention. You can make political content out of anything. I tell you a story about ants, and you can tell me it's a leftist story with a secret agenda blah blah blah..

Does the movie make the Immigration People look evil? Maybe. But the movie is only showing you THE PERSPECTIVE of illegal immigrants. Of course police seems kind of evil in the eyes of illegal immigrants, but that doesn't mean they are. The movie is only showing you a POV (POINT OF VIEW). And I can't think of one movie that is not showing you the perspective of at least one character.

It's a sad reality that so many people go to the USA looking for a better life. But it's a reality, so why is it bad to make an story out of it?
If we look at all movies only from a political perspective, then we wouldn't be able to film anything. Somewhere, someone would always be offended.


Did the filmmaker wanted to make a political point? I don't know. I just hope she just wanted to tell an story, because I think she did succeed in it. Good movie.
