I cried from the very beginning b/c it broke my heart; the family and loved ones are so important to Mexicans and omg I was crying throughout along w/ my mexican national bf :) we loved it!!!
I highly recommend it to anyone! there's no gratuitous nudity, extreme violence or sappyness. I felt is was for the most part true to life.
And the boy who plays Carlitos was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Down the rabbit-hole I GO… what I’ll find no one knows
i completely agree with you, the movie is good in it's own right. Does it have cliches? yes. Is it a bit melodramatic? yes. Are there some script flaws? yes. etc.
Still, this movie manages to keep you interested, and has a lot of positive things. I laugh at posters who say in other threads of this movie: "The raid in the fruit field is not realistic", "the scene when theyre crossing the border is not accurate" etc. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MATTER?? Its a movie get over it. Do Americans have any idea how badly do they represent other cultures in their movies? They have massive mistakes, they have massive cliches, but no one says anything, I guess we accept americans as world-ignorant. They only know about their country.
I think the acting was great, the script was fine, the director made a very good job too. This movie is far better than most mexican movies from the last decade.
