Comparison to 'The Search' (1948)

I saw "The Search" (1948) w/ Montgomery Clift on TCM and although I suppose they were culturally different, with different issues impacting the search, the humanity of both stories grabbed me. Does anyone have any comment about this?

I agree. It has been some time since I saw "The Search," but what I do remember is the attractiveness of the child plus his inner strength and determination. I am sure other points of comparison also exist; I simply need to see "The Search" again, I guess!
