Season 4 SPOILERS
After returning to their own time they find things changed. Do they ever fix it so things are like they were? I really don't like the new time line.

shareNo, there is no return to the old time line. People are usually mixed to their responses of the final two seasons. You either like it or hate it.
Personally I did not like them as a whole but there are some bits and pieces that I liked (Ex-files being one of them).
Yeah, sorry. Things pretty much stay that way. I mostly liked the changes. The first half of season 4 is one of my favorite Eureka storylines. I've watched it many times.
Thanks to both of you. I guess the thing that bothered me the most was that Kevin was suddenly no longer autistic. It was as if they created a character to keep up with the growing number of children with autism but had no idea as to what they should do with him so they found a way to make him neuro-typical.
shareKevin mainly communicating with Jack and almost no one else was one of the cool things in earlier seasons which helped give the show an eerie vibe. It does seem like they could've done more with that. One of the creators of the show wanted to take things in a different direction and make it more lighthearted, or something to that effect. Part of that was accomplished by making Kevin more of a well-communicating genius rather than a savant who mostly kept to himself. I thought their explanation for his change made enough sense. It was pointed out that (realistically) something environmental may have originally caused Kevin's autism. With the timeline being altered the environmental aspects were now different enough than before, allowing Kevin to be born without autism. Even just a slight change in environment could theoretically be enough to change Kevin's fate.
Many of us wish the show continued to have an eerie feel to it, but I can understand how people who made the show might want to create something with more positivity from one week to the next.
