Was this movie the final nail in the coffin for Ashley Tisdale?!

Now, before you open this: My reasoning is that Ashley was never all that praised. She was constantly criticised for her singing and/or acting. It's not as often as it is now however. But, still. I know that she can be a decent actress(ala Sons of Anarchy, but the fans of that show flipped out over her being on it), but it seems to me that most people associate her with the High School Musical series and Zack and Cody.

But to me, I feel that this movie was the final nail in the coffin for her. She tried to do something "more mature"(in her own words and to breakaway from HSM and Zack and Cody, and wanted to for a long time. But did one more Sharpay movie for her fans), but I feel she will end up regretting it. Since this movie was released, a lot, and I mean A LOT of people I know have been hating and ragging on Ashley Tisdale, more so than ever. For example, I have noticed that the majority of her Facebook photos has at least one hate comment on it, and when a news article comes, people are taking digs at her and calling her a "has-been".

The Maxim shoot did not help either. Basically, this movie was so bad that it has completely damaged Ashley's reputation(Unlike Zac Efron, who is now fairly praised due to his breakaway from the HSM franchise and had his breakout role in something strong). Did her more bad than good, and now the majority of people despise her and I wouldn't be lying if I said that this movie probably played a huge factor into it.

And a lot of the people who enjoyed the Scary Movie franchise even hate her due to the obvious reasons(Ala she took over as lead in this one).

I sense that this movie was so bad that it pretty much has ruined Ashley's career. Not that it was good in the first place,

I would have to agree with you on that one. I personally enjoy her voice acting in comparison to her actual acting, but it does seem that this movie pretty much not only killed the "Scary Movie" franchise, and flopped, but has seemed to hurt Ashley Tisdale's reception pretty badly.

It could pick up again, if she has a breakout role in something that isn't critically panned or seen as funny as the Seltzerberg movies(as in: "Not funny" at all).

I think it's too late. Ashley had her chance, and Scary Movie 5 really killed off any hope for people taking her seriously. It is essentially this movie that elevated her hatred on Facebook and other sites like it.

she's already cast in Vic Armstrong's Left Behind trilogy with Nicholas Cage, and will have an recurrent part in ABC'S Super Fun Night with Rebel Wilson, so i think she's good.

And hate? she has 10 million followers on twitter, i never see hate on her facebook and all the film critics I read, praise her.

If the film had problems and was not very well received is not her fault, she is not the writer or anything, but I think she did a decent job, better than Anna Faris in the very first scary movie.

There have been a few hate comments on Facebook mostly since April. The Maxim photo got a fair amount of hate comments. There has been something that has elevated since the fifth Scary Movie. I mean, people weren't even bothered about her stalker Nicholas Fiore a while back because they basically stated: "She's a has-been".

I know and agree, but sadly, people blame it on Ashley's performance.

I don't think scary movie has neither hurt/helped her career. Plenty of reviews have stated that she did fine with what she was given, some even said she was too good for the role. I don't think she is a a has been, I think she just needs to pick better choices. I am sure she will probably go back to tv, sicne she seems to want to do that.

Plus she has her own production company, so I think she will be fine.

Agreed. Ashley can do good but a role like this, she wasn't enough to save it. She gets the scapegoat because she was the replacement for Anna Faris.

Ironic as how Ashley was critically panned, Phineas and Ferb began to lose it's popularity. This year is not looking good for her.........

I think that nail has long since been hammered. Just beating a dead horse at this point.

What I meant by this is that people that were criticised in the past for being in the things Ashley herself was involved with before making this movie are no longer ripped on(Zac Efron for instance). But Ashley seems to still be on that slump and can't get out of it. This movie to me was the final nail in the coffin, because critics hated it, it's put on par with Jack and Jill and Seltzerberg, and now people won't take Ashley seriously as an actress and they flatout hate her and anything she does(Which is why I'm beginning to think that Phineas and Ferb alone gets alot of hatred. Candace IS the most hated character on that show after all).

Ashley will never ever get out of that slump and this movie proved it.

Scary Movie 5 was probably the biggest lead role she was offered. I'm guessing she took what she was given. There are a lot of blondes in her age group, and the only script she gets to read are probably the leftovers' leftovers that Jennifer Lawrence passed on. So she is likely not going to get any good roles unless she produces/writes them herself.

She's a limited singer and actress, so she probably can't rely on her talent to do independent roles (or she simply doesn't want to work for nothing). What she does have going for her are better than average looks and popularity; whoever casts her knows she has a huge following online and a built in fanbase, and she can get some publicity by doing a sexy photoshoot.

I think she is financially able to retire, and she has a hand in producing, so she is fine.

I think it's sad that Ashley never got to break out of her High School Musical role and the one role where she did try to break out of it, was a role that didn't put her talents to good use. Ashley is actually a very good vocal voice actress, Candace's character on Phineas and Ferb being my favorite is helped by the way she portrays her.
I agree with RainyCloudz in a sense. Ashley does have talent but the critics and many people can't seem to get pass the fact that she was a High School Musical star aside and cast her in a role that puts her talents to decent use.
It doesn't help that articles mostly go out of their way to explicitly state that she was in High School Musical and preferably ignore the fact she voices Candace.

Tisdale didn't have much of a career anyway, she's dumber than Vanessa Hudgens when it comes to career strategy, at least Hudgens has the sense to know that she's going to have to go on the casting couch to get movie roles, that conclusion still hasn't occurred to Tisdale so her career continues to lag behind.
