I doubt after this one Anna or Regina would return to the series.
This is what happens when hollywood just cares about money and making it a cash cow and not giving the film time to get things right. They should have waited for Anna and Regina to be able to do the film. They should have taken their time to create sick spoofs.
How funny would it be if they got like Anna Farris, Regina Hall, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, and that whole crew and made a 6th movie. If they got good enough writers, they could totally bring the series back from the dead.
I wouldn't say that it killed the chance of any more. Although you can't compare its gross with the success of its predecessors, it was still a financial success for the studio. It proves that there's a reliable market for these movies and loyal fans of the "Scary Movie" franchise. So I think the studio has two realistic choices: 1) Doing a "Scary Movie 6" for the big screen, affording more budget, reuniting Cindy (Anna Faris) & Brenda (Regina Hall), and promoting this as a cinematic comedy "event movie". It would be a last big chance to revive the franchise, but chances were high (when done right) 2) Doing a "Scary Movie 6" as a direct-to-DVD-release with even less budget than for Scary 5, hoping to continue the franchise as a straight-to-DVD-series which brings in some extra money every 1-2 years. I would like both, since I'm a fan of the franchise and I'd love to see another sequel, but of corse I would clearly prefer the first option!
I agree... And the teen scene will almost always flock to these horror comedies in line at the cinemas if given a choice between this and a film that's actually movingly thought out in my opinion... But to each their own. Nothing wrong with comedy but seems like this is the same movie made over and over again with the same punch lines.
