Ik ben zo benieuwd. Al sinds Suzy Q is Koolhoven de meest interessante regisseur van Nederland en al jaren heeft hij aangekondigd zich te willen richten op deze film. Al sinds 2004 ofzo. En nu dan eindelijk het geld bij elkaar. De cast heeft internationale allure en ik denk dat Koolhoven een frisse nieuwe approach kan bedenken voor een genre dat ietwat stoffig is geraakt. In een interview zei hij dat hij wilde alsof je er echt bij was. Of de oorlog hier en nu is. Dat klinkt te gek!

gedeeltelijk gefilmd bij mij in de buurt (in Megen, dicht bij Oss).

Ik hoop wel dat ze in nederland eens beginnen met het serieus zoeken naar echte filmcomponisten. Ik vind dat het daar nogal eens aan wil schorten. Voor de rest zit het al heel lang goed met de nederlandse film; alleen internationaal staan we denk ik nog bekend als mensen die dubieuze sexfilms maken waarin hoofdzakelijk word gescholden....en met een vreemd plot natuurlijk.

Ennio Morricone or Zbigniew Preisner. I realise that those are very big names, and that both actually composed for Dutch films (for Sportman van de Eeuw, Morricone was considered and Preisner chosen in the end. Morricone has Vaarwel on the list).

I know that there are many other composers of skill around, but those two seem a logical choice for me. Both are non-hollywood composers (I know both worked for Hollywood, but they clearly focus on Europe) and both seem not afraid of a challenge or working with limited budgets.

Morricone is becomig old though and is very expensive. Preisner is not good for every movie. Oorlogswinter will get a good composer. Looks like it will not be a Dutch one.

BTW, for Vaarwel was an already existing peace of music used, I think.

Music from Morriconé's La Califfa was re-used for Vaarwel. Morricone was also involved in Sportman van de Eeuw (Sportsman of the Century), but ultimately Preisner composed the music.

I'm also very curious about what the composer (who's name I cannot reveal yet) is going to be writing for Oorlogswinter.
