The timeline
It makes no sense. They (Donna and the dad's) were supposed to have met in late 60s early 70s but it's 2008 and Sophie is 20...I love this musical no matter what but this will always bother me
shareThe play was written and first performed in the late 90's, and if you're talking about the hippy clothes, people dressed like that well into the 70's, plus it's not as if she met them all at the same time, she knew them all for years before Sophie was conceived, so I think Donna took out the oldest photos of the guys she could find to compare them to Sophie's baby picture. Also in one picture she's dressed in punk clothes like early 80's late 70's punk. And the play was written in the mid 90's, and the song "Mamma Mia" was written in 1975. So it pretty much all works out correctly.
