Deleted Songs

Anybody know why 4 songs from the Broadway production were deleted? Did the producers feel that the film was too long? Deleted were, The Name of the Game, Under Attack, One of Us, and Knowing Me, Knowing You. Added to the film was Brosnan performing When All Is Said and Done.

Interesting. It could be due to a number of reasons. Maybe the film was too long, as you mentioned. Or maybe the songs slowed down the pace of the film. "Knowing Me Knowing You" only appears as a short instrumental version when Sophie is walking into the church for her wedding.

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

The Name of the Game still made it onto the soundtrack, and I'm glad it did. Amanda's version was beautiful (as was anything she sang). I wish all of the songs featured in the film had made it to the soundtrack (Fernando, Chiquitita, I Do (x5) and Waterloo were also featured)

i imagine it was because nobody in the film could sing, and they decided enough was enough.

Yes how hideous was the voice of Amanda Seyfried. How DID she make it onto both stage and screen to play both roles of Cosette in Les Miz?

And Meryl Streep can't do anything right.

Don't get me started on Christine Baranski.

Incidentally, Meryl Streep is classically trained in vocals. She just wasn't suited for the type of music being sung here. If it didn't sound right, it's only because it wasn't right for her.

As much as I love Meryl Streep, I wouldn't have chosen her for this role. I would have chosen (stay with me here) Goldie Hawn, who believe it or not, has a beautiful singing voice, AND of whom I think Amanda Seyfried is the spitting image, making the perfect mother/daughter roles. Then I would have given the role of Rosie to Meryl Streep and pushed Julie Walters off the boat.

The guys I liked. I didn't care if they could or couldn't sing. They were lovable in their roles.
