Is it just me or did anyone find Steve Grey to be more likable than Burt Wonderstone halfway through the film?

I did because I thought Burt was becoming more and more obnoxious once Steve Grey becomes the new hottest act, I especially cringed at the way Burt was acting when he was at Jane's residence having dinner with her.

While Steve was supposed to be the villain but at least he didn't piss me off with his behavior like Burt was.

Steve wasn't a villain, he was a rival threatening to take Burt's business. What you say is reasonable, but two things should be considered: (1) Burt has a story arc and wasn't supposed to be likable during the first two acts; after being humbled, however, his good side starts to manifest in the last act; and (2) We don't know enough about Steve to draw any conclusions because all the film shows us is him doing his act, performing for the public.
