People on this board are so stupid!

People on this board are so stupid to not realize the situation with Madison and that she DID have the power to date if she wanted to. After all, she did date that sailor on leave, even if her dad didn't want her to. Some people might say she is disrespecting her dad for dating the sailer, no she is not. She is not disrespecting her dad because she is only doing it to herself, SHE is the one dating. She is not controlling whether or not her dad dates. Now, if Madison was to somehow make her dad date the sailor THEN she would be disrespecting him, but since she is the one dating him therefore she is not disrespecting him.

At the end of the movie, Madison shouldn'tve asked her dad if she could date, she should've TOLD her dad she would date, she should've done that in the beginning of the movie.

Furthermore, if Madison is going to date somebody from the Navy it should be a SEAL. That way, her boyfriend could beat up her dad really badly, and he would have no problem doing it, being a Navy SEAL and all.

Sometimes I do, such as when authority is abuse. For instance, when there was slavery in the USA slavemasters had authority and it was abuse. Slavery is the perfect example about how authority can be abusive and bad.

you're right in saying that slavery is abusive and bad, but someone not allowing their child to date is not abuse. so, you should have no problem with that.

Yes it is. A teenager's dating life is personal and private and none of the parent's business. For parents to get involved, they are overstepping their bounds.

So you would let your teenage daughter date a guy in his 30's, drug addicted, homeless ect...

If you had it your way Madison would have ran away from home and she would end up being pimped out by an abusive boyfriend because she shouldn't have to follow to her parents rules. Any sailor, Seal or not would be after one thing and that wouldn't be stimulating conversation.
