This story deserved...

This story deserved a better director, and probably more importantly - a better editor. Please Wikipedia Ramanujan's story to know this could've been a once in a generation kinda movie that was wasted. Beautiful, true, real life, touch your heart, energize your mind, against all odds story of brilliance that was reduced to family fun popcorn fare.

There were multiple post-processing edits that were so obvious, they ruined the story line. Threads were left hanging. Got the feeling that more was shot but just cut off because they thought we don't want to see it.

And the director +screenwriter - he/they decided to focus on the surface. No, let's not waste a single moment observing or analyzing a single human emotion... The way to tell the story of a multi year journey is to focus on the main plot points...Yeah...

P.S. Let's leave aside the historical inaccuracies. That's a different discussion. Don't post those here, please.

agreed...some really cheesy dialogue throughout the flick

holy tits!

this (every single word) is what I thought as soon as the movie ended. So I came on here to see if anyone else thinks similarly. And boom! This thread is the first one on top. Kinda creepy

Yes, it did seem to be missing something in places.

Questions I have are why did Ramanujan stay in England so long?

Since he was not getting letters from home, was his scholarly work of more importance than checking on his wife?

Or was the expense of the trip too much and/or being away too long be an end to his publishing opportunity?

_____

Books and movies are usually better than real life.
