This has always been one of my favorite shows; but the season premiere last night was complete garbage.
Half the show about the deportation of the Mexican man. Cry me a river. The man is illegal, bottom line. He's got to go. *beep* all that trying to get me to feel bad about that guy.
I agree. For me, the most annoying thing was when Amy was shaking her head sadly that he would "never see his children again." Why wouldn't he? They can go to Mexico to see him. Ridiculous. Too bad his children are put into such an awful situation due to their father's criminal activity, but it's no one's fault but his own. Also, Amy and Matt claimed they have done "everything" they can do about Camarino's situation. Um, how about having him apply for US citizenship many years ago? Couldn't seem to think of that.
shareAccording to this article Amy and Matt were sponsoring Camerino. Camerino apparently paid his life savings to an attorney to work on the situation. The attorney was forced to resign or face disbarment for giving bad legal advice. It sounds to me like he was trying to do the right thing.
It also says Camerino has a felony conviction on his record but new evidence has come to light and ICE refuses to re open the case.

I get the "human aspect" of stories like these. I do. I am not cold-hearted.
But ...
I DO NOT understand people's arguments with regard to illegal immigration. People can legally immigrate to the U.S. If they are in danger, they can claim refugee status. Otherwise, if you enter illegally, you are THERE ILLEGALLY. And yes, therefore, you could get deported at any time. It doesn't matter if you are a saint or have kids or are hard-working. You are there illegally. Period. End of story.
On a human level, I do feel bad for this guy and the Roloffs, BUT ...

The guy obviously has a work ethic and has proved his worth ten times more than most fat lazy uneducated uncultured idiot Americans.
