I'm confused about some plot points...

First off, did Ben stay with his dad his whole life, knowing his dad was a werewolf? Or did he not know? It seems strange that Ben wouldn't notice his dad suddenly gone three days a month for decades without asking why.

Second, it seemed like Gwen's romance with LT was really quick. I felt she barely got her fiance, who happened to be LT's brother, into the ground and she suddenly feels an attraction to LT? It just seems very weird to me, after only a couple of months, she'd be over grieving (which was a pretty big deal in the upper classed in Victorian times) and kissing LT. I just don't think a woman of the Victorian era would do that. I don't know, kissing the brother of your dead finance is sorta gross. It just didn't seem real to me.

Third, if the dad was a werewolf, how did he keep it a secret? It seems this Wolf Man, unlike the older black and white version, runs amok and has a huge body count. I know, the dad locked himself away, but why was he suddenly out? If he was because of Ben, why not just bite Ben and turn him into a Wolf Man so he wouldn't be with Gwen instead of kill him? I am sure since he has a servant, that man could have the werewolf bite Ben without killing him. It just seems like a big plot hole...that LT was in American but Ben wasn't...unless I missed something.

I got the impression that he did not know.

Gross? Why? It seems weird that you would think it was gross. It also happens quite a lot, so it shouldn't seem "unreal". With that being said, sure, it was a little quick. People do that when grieving, and so on.

Third, if the dad was a werewolf, how did he keep it a secret? It seems this Wolf Man, unlike the older black and white version, runs amok and has a huge body count. I know, the dad locked himself away, but why was he suddenly out?
You missed something. He got in an argument with Ben and Singh (the Sikh servant) tried to intervene or got involved in some other way and Sir John knocked him unconscious meaning he wasn't around to lock him up.

If he was because of Ben, why not just bite Ben and turn him into a Wolf Man so he wouldn't be with Gwen instead of kill him?
He becomes a ravenous mindless beast as the werewolf, not a calculating strategist.

I am sure since he has a servant, that man could have the werewolf bite Ben without killing him. It just seems like a big plot hole...that LT was in American but Ben wasn't...unless I missed something.
Lawrence was in American because he was estranged from his father because he witnessed his father kill his mother (or the aftermath) and was sent to an asylum and so on. Ben stayed because he didn't see anything and was never the wiser.

The Singh probably wouldn't have helped him do that as he seemed to be devoted to locking Sir John up and protecting him and the inhabitants of the town, etc. from him when he turned.

Yeah there are a lot of things that could have been corrected, the film was great but I think the plot needed a little bit more work.

But what could have been done differently?
