Basically we have a father with dark secrets and a superpower curse, which he passes onto his son, and the father killed the mother, which the son has to deal with. It just seems very similar to Hulk in my opinion.
You have a very good point indeed! And maybe that's what made The Wolfman (2010) so dull to so many people, even without them (us) consciously catching the similarity.
I know I wanted to like Ang Lee's Hulk back then, but couldn't really care about the father/son - love/hate - repression/anger Freudian theme, or at least how it was executed. Frankly I've never watched the original Wolfman film or its sequels, so I had zero expectations or attachment to the titular character, and I found this film satisfying, even if I wouldn't call it great.
Given that the Hulk film is far from being popular or praised (except for some of the cinematography), I wouldn't think they would deliberately copy it. It was probably unintentional but nonetheless evident. Evident after reading your post, that is. Thanks!
I am the opposite Centauro. I grew up watching some of the wolf man sequels and then watched the original after I graduated highschool and bought the legacy collection dvd of it. I went to go see this movie not having looked up anything about it and hated that Larry's father was the villain.
A few years ago I watched it again and enjoyed it because of how funny it was. All the villagers who go after the wolfman/Larry are portrayed as complete and utter morons who fall into their own traps. The scene where they take Larry to the assylem and then he's put on display in front of a bunch of doctors is hilarious. It feels more like a parody of the original than it does a horror film. I would now give it a 6/10 just for making me lol. Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw
