The Illusionist's Destination?
From the movie are we supposed to be able to tell where the illusionist is going at the end or is it not supposed to matter because it is all a big metaphor?
Are we supposed to infer that he is old and his purpose in life is gone, so his story becomes irrelevant, while the story of the young woman and her new love is all that matters?
Some people have said that the picture he was looking it was an estranged daughter and he was going to visit her, but I think that is a bit of a leap, based only on what we saw in the movie. (Yes, I know Tati had an estranged daughter in real life.)
