How much do lab geeks make?

I have been binging the first 8 seasons again preparing for the new one and I can’t remember if it occurred to me the first time around but Dexter seems to have unlimited funds.

Sometimes he is paying for an extra apartment. He has a rather large money stash, all his ‘equipment’, a full time nanny, travel is never an issue. Hell, he even drops almost $2000 on a plane ticket he has no intention of using.

While suspense of belief is one thing, this is so outrageous, it’s ridiculous.

Looking at the higher end of 2020 wages, well into 100k a year.

Not sure how far that even stretches in Miami. Dexter always did seem quite well off, more so than one would think.

All he does is work and kill. How much can plastic cost?

But it isn’t just plastic. It’s all living expenses as a single father, PLUS everything else I listed.
Having a nanny that works nearly 24/7 alone is a lot of money.

Could be he got an inheritance from Harry; also he got the house from his biological father in Season 1& presumably sold that, so there's that. Also the sale of him & Rita's house. Plus I would guess as a lab tech he's making pretty good money there.

Could be possible he's supplementing his income via his kills. After all they're not going to be using it any more. When he took out Trinity he found a whole wad of cash that he had on him since he was running. at the time, Dexter didn't make his intentions clear on what he was going to do with it. But later on he decided to make sure it got back to Trinity's family.
