I still think it's terrifying to imagine exactly how things went down between them. And did he tell her the truth about Dexter, and explain why he'd chosen her? I think it was a very effective decision for them to not show this.

The main point of it, is that the writers were boxed in by Dexter's marriage to Rita. There was nowhere to go, so they killed her off. Watch series 4, episodes 1-4 for several examples of why this was.

Didn't they assume it was trinity. When they first arrived Dexter said it was me. They thought it was him and let him go as it got his routine. It shocked me as this show arrests others for less
shareThis is interesting. I still can’t figure out the timeline when Trinity kills Rita. There doesn’t seem enough time between when Trinity awakes from the drug and Dexter capturing him again. He’d be out for hours I’m sure. Somewhere in between he has to have to pull off his somewhat elaborate murder ritual. Meanwhile Harrison is sitting in the blood for who knows how long. It’s dramatic and great TV but upon second viewing it seemed odd.
shareThat's what I always felt about the series, that the show's writers would tend to paint themselves into a corner, in some situations to a point of no return (Dexter married, Rita dead, Brother Sam dead killed early, Debra finding out...). Overall I'm fine with everything but the last minute of the penultimate episode and finale (I'm only a little shaky on Season 6 due to what I consider the vagaries of the villains and what I mentioned about Brother Sam), but certain events changed the trajectory of the show, and some viewers didn't like that (even though I remember many viewers at the time complaining about characters such as Rita, and even the screentime Miguel was getting in Season 3).
