Plot Questions

I hate to be so literal minded but I just saw this film and there were some plot moments that left me wondering.....
Can you tell me:
What was in the box that Nora's friend Audrey delivers in Paris to the man who takes it out while she's watching? It looked a bit like cash or stocks but I couldn't be sure-
Is the older woman who receives the envelope in Paris REALLY supposed to be Noras' grandmother or is she just symbolic of Nora's increasing connectedness (or just plain wacko, for that matter)?
Why didn't Nora just keep calling the guy back in the U.S. who introduced her to Julian when she couldn't find his phone number?

Thanks!

A. - It was money, a lot of it...
B. - No, it wasn't her grandmother (Nora says so when recounting the experience to Audrey). She just confused her, and Nora enjoyed playing the part for her sake.
C. - No explanation is given as to why she didn't keep trying to contact him. Maybe he was on vacation? We don't know how much longer she stayed, it might have been just a few days: he might have been out of touch the whole time.

It is a bit of a hole that it all hinges on a missing phone number and not being to contact the friend that introduced you. Heck, if I wanted the girl to find me, I'd given her phone, address & email and made sure to have some confirmation she has more than enough info to contact me. Then again, IMO the movie is intended to show our most vulnerable and confusing self - when the little things seem to build insurmontable obstacles...
