Didn't believe it....
As someone who thinks the writers did a fine job of creating three new characters and integrating them into the life of the show while in the midst of a furious fan backlash, season 7 for me is when I started not caring anymore. That’s when a series of plot turns began that struck me as out-of-character and unbelievable.
Would a 45 year-old Tasha allow herself to get pregnant? Didn’t believe it. Would Jason blurt out in the middle of his wedding ceremony that he was in love with someone else? Didn’t believe it. Would Keira and Malik get together? Didn’t believe it. Would a grown-up, now-independent Kelly get back with Jason? Didn’t believe it.
All of these things - and more - were unbelievable to me based on what the writers had told us about these characters over the course of the years. It just felt like so many desperate plot twists - all of which, for me, failed to lead anywhere worth watching.
Such a shame to go out like that. But thanks for the good times.
I’ll be watching to see what the Akils continue to do.
