Perfect Popcorn Movie

I bought the DVD of this movie ages ago but only got round to watching it last night. What a great antidote it is to a bout of the blues. It's certainly no Casablanca but you have two attractive leads in Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, who were clearly enjoying themsleves immensely, playing their parts with great brio. Matt gets to show of his pecs, Kate gets to show off her toned and tanned body, you have Ray Winstone with a dodgy American accent, perfectly offset by Donald Sutherland with his equally dodgy English Accent, the character of Gemma even perked up an old fart like me!. The baddies get their comeuppance, everything else ends happliy ever after.
If you are looking for an hour and forty five minutes of pure undemanding cinema hokum you will have to look long and hard to better this one. Loved it!.

I have to agree with you. Normally I cant stand anything with McConaughey in it, simply because he is a lousy actor. But I really enjoy movies & books set in the Caribbean. This a light movie, albeit acting and other issues, but it is nonetheless fun. Its upbeat, doesnt take itself seriously...and this time of year especially when you're sitting here freezing you butt of in the northeast this year.

Aw this is a nice review! I agree too.

Agree and with the other reviewers. Good slick enough fun. Setting an extra
nice touch. Glad they made it for others to enjoy. Sutherland a treat. And
'bad guys' really a trip.
If you've liked Goldie in Overboard this has similar appeal.
