Did this movie really became a flop in the states?

If so, then american audiences don`t know a good and fun adventure movie if it hits them in their face. I loved it, I laughed a lot because it was funny, it was well acted and the tec crew was also good along with both script and direction. Ok, it wasn`t the most unique and original but on the other hand how many other movies these days are that so it doesn`t matter. At least that`s my opinion.

it made 70 million dollars in the us, roger borjesson!!!

Not according to IMDB. The budget was USD 70m, but it only did USD 44m in the theatres (in the US).

It is not hard, however, to understand why this film tanked. Bad script and bad acting. The carachters were sterotyped to the max. There were some amazing shots of the caribbean though, but that was about what I got out of this film.

i was always under the impression that the film did pretty good business as the movie theater i work at, this movie was sold out for months after it's release, i really couldidn't believe how this movie sold out almost every weekend. Horribal movie!

$70 million in the United States alone, along with a mediocre $40 million elsewhere.

Technically speaking, if we go by whether the movie made 2x its budget back, "Fool's Gold" was a flop. But with DVD sales and rentals and stuff, it made a little profit.

It was filmed in Australia, not Key West, wherever that is

The underwater footage is one of the best things about the movie, but I have to say that for me, it doesn't really even look like a $70 million film.

this movie was so dumb, it killed more of my brain cells than an entire weekend of binge drinking
