Speaking in August 2010, Cassel said that a sequel was discussed with Cronenberg whilst they were filming A Dangerous Method. Cassel suggested that the sequel will be filmed in Russia with Cassel and Mortensen reprising their roles.[39]

In April 2012, producer Paul Webster told Screen International that a sequel was in the works, which would reunite director Cronenberg, writer Knight, and actor Mortensen. The film was said to be made by Websters new production company Shoebox Films in collaboration with Focus Features and was to begin production in early 2013.[40] That August, however, Cronenberg stated that Eastern Promises 2 was "dead": "We were supposed to start shooting 'Eastern Promises 2' in October... [But] It's done. If you don't like it talk to James Schamus at Focus. It was his decision."[41]

In the sequel, Viggo's character is now married to an American (played by Liv Tyler); his mother-in-law is played by Deborah Harry, who is married to James Woods; they spend most of their scenes watching snuff films on television.

Mortensen is now the head of the Russian Mafia in the U.K., and has been promoted so high in the FSB that he now answers only to Putin himself.

He is given an assignment to retrieve some top-secret teleportation technology from Jeff Goldblum; Viggo has to escape from some Ukrainian mafioso's, so he enters the teleportation chamber (unfortunately with a bit of bear and pig hair on his jacket as he had been at the zoo), and is teleported to safety.

Viggo starts to mutate into a manbearpig, and is desperate to reverse it; Sean Bean plays a high-ranking MI-6 agent who knows of a mystical ring that cure Viggo, but Bean is unfortunately accidentally beheaded at a renaissance faire.

Liv Tyler gets into a car accident, and is operated on by twin surgeons with bizarre surgical tools intended for mutant women; she returns home, only to be eaten alive and screaming by Viggo, who continues to mutate into a manbearpig.

Viggo hooks up with Naomi Watts, who now has the ring, thanks to a Russian mafioso soldier of Viggo's; Viggo is cured, and summons the soldier who found the ring which cured him; the soldier kneels before Viggo, who tells him to arise as he has his star tattoos.

"My friend....you have your stars....you bow to no one."

I don't remember exactly. Something to do with naked disco dancing competitions and Russian mobsters. Russian mobsters doing naked disco dancing. Yep. That was the sequel.
