If he learns sign language then he does not have to worry about speaking a word but he can still comunicate.

reflexes would still make him talk, small things like 'hey' or '20 dollars for a hand job'

best bet would be for him to never brush his teeth again, when u have bad breath its always the ONLY thing on your mind. he wouldnt dare open his mouth

I saw a screening of this a while back, and when he gives the finger to the tree, two leaves fall off. He also can't write anything down.
